Joseph Winstein-Hibbs is a jazz drummer, jazz pianist, and private music teacher living in St. Louis, Missouri. He holds the drum chair in both the Zach Radwine Trio and the Matthew Galik Trio, and also leads his own trio, in which he plays piano. In addition to working with these three core groups, he has also worked heavily as a sideman with an array of both local and internationally-known musicians. His drumming appears on three albums, and his piano playing appears on one.
Joseph studied drums in St. Louis with Steve Davis, Kevin Gianino, Miles Vandiver, and Keith Evans. While he is primarily self-taught on the piano, Joseph has over the years has taken a number of influential piano lessons with Lynne Arriale, Alan Pasqua, Ethan Iverson, Zach Radwine, Ken Kehner, Adam Maness, Carolbeth True, and Kirt Pavitt. Joseph studied Western music theory and Western music history with Dr. Thomas Zirkle and Dr. Gerald Myers at St. Louis Community College - Meramec, and studied the Alexander Technique in St. Louis with Katherine Mitchell.
Joseph has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri - St. Louis and has been performing music regularly since his high school years.
